a point directly below it. the length of the string to the kite is 45 feet. how high is the kite?

It’s a right triangle. Hypotenuse 45 ft, base X, height X+9.
X^2 + (X+9)^2 = 45^2
2X^2 + 18x – 1944 = 0
X = 27 (Quadratic formula)
Height = X + 9
