There is nothing better than the adrenaline rush you get from kite surfing. The challenge of enhancing the speed of your board and trying to take control of your kite is an experience that is exhilarating and keeps you coming back for more. And since the sport has been recorded to have been done since as early as the 12th century, it really is a timeless sport.
The history of kite surfing started way back in the 13th century. It was first used as a mode of going from one place to another. Also known as kite sailing, it makes use of the wind to move. Before boards, canoes were used, together with a sail, to take advantage of the wind\’s movement and make their way across bodies of water or areas of land.
George Pocock, in the 18th century, revolutionized kite sailing and turned it to kite surfing by making use of kites to maneuver across the open space. And back in the day, they were even able to transport vehicles and other heavy objects off the ground. The basic setup contains four lines as well. The wind would provide a powerful lift that would keep you in midair long enough.
Kite surfing was not used just on water, where it mainly takes place today, but also on land, snow and ice. But in the 1980\’s, manufacturers modified it to be used on water and for the purpose of extreme sporting. Now, these kites could be sailed again after falling from the air into the water.
Kite surfing was first popularized by two chumps, Manu and Laird Hamilton, when they started playing in the Hawaiian shores of Maui. And that became the start of the expansion of the extreme sport. Now, different organizations being put up, competitions being held, and materials being published just for it have fathomed a great part of shore lovers.

You realize even medium kites are close to a thousand dollars, right? It would be downright stupid to buy the best (several thousand dollar) kite before you try it, especially since you need multiple kites for multiple wind ranges.
